Frewaka (2025)

Shoo, a primary care worker, takes a job caring for Peig, an elderly woman recovering from a stroke and showing signs of dementia. As Shoo moves into Peigs rural home, she begins to notice strange occurrences and local customs that hint at something more than just superstition. Peig speaks of being taken by the fae, not nuns, during her youth, suggesting a supernatural explanation for her past trauma. Shoo, dealing with her own grief and impending motherhood, starts to question the reality around her as the line between folklore and reality blurs. The film weaves themes of generational trauma, motherhood, and the weight of history into a folk horror narrative that challenges perceptions of reality and tradition.
