The Blackening (2023)

A group of Black friends reunite for a weekend getaway at a remote cabin in the woods to celebrate Juneteenth. What starts as a fun retreat quickly turns unsettling when they discover a creepy board game called ?The Blackening? in the living room. As they start playing, the game forces them to answer uncomfortable questions about their Blackness-and it soon becomes clear that something more sinister is at play. They realize they're being watched and manipulated, and the game isn't just for laughs. When masked attackers show up, the group is forced to figure out who they can trust while trying to survive the night. Their friendships are tested as paranoia creeps in, and the game's twisted rules push them into life-or-death decisions. Despite the tension, the film mixes sharp satire and cultural commentary with horror tropes, flipping the genre's usual clich's on their head. What follows is a bloody, chaotic night where wit, loyalty, and survival instincts clash in unexpected ways.
