The Blair Witch Project (1999)

Poster for The Blair Witch Project

Three students head into the woods near a small town in Maryland to shoot a documentary about a local legend, expecting a straightforward project. They interview townsfolk, gather stories, and set off deeper into the forest to capture what they think will be atmospheric background shots. At first the trip is typical, with the group joking and filming each other, but soon small problems begin piling up wrong turns, strange noises at night, and unsettling discoveries left around their camp. Tensions rise as their supplies run low, arguments flare, and the feeling of being lost grows stronger with each day. What started as a student film assignment turns into a grim record of their unraveling, as the camera keeps rolling through fear, frustration, and desperation. By the end, the footage becomes the only trace of what happened to them in the woods.
