Misery (1990)

After finishing his latest novel, successful author Paul Sheldon decides to drive home through a heavy snowstorm in rural Colorado. On an icy mountain road, he loses control of his car and crashes, leaving him badly injured and unconscious. He wakes up in a remote house, confined to a bed with shattered legs and no way to move. The woman caring for him is Annie Wilkes, a former nurse who claims she rescued him from the wreck. At first, Annie seems kind and devoted. She is also Paul's self-proclaimed number one fan, obsessed with his popular romance series about a character named Misery Chastain. Paul soon learns he is completely cut off from the outside world, with no phone and no visitors due to the snow blocking the roads.
