Lost Soul Archives
V/H/S/99 (2022)
VHS99 is a found-footage horror anthology made up of five segments, each set during the final year of the 1990s. The stories are tied together by glitchy home video-style transitions and focus on different slices of late-90s youth culture-garage bands, prank shows, teen rebellion, and obsession with the supernatural. Each short spirals into chaos in its own way, with haunted houses, deadly dares, demonic rituals, and underground horrors all popping up. The tone swings between darkly funny and brutal, keeping things unpredictable. It leans heavily into DIY aesthetics and old-school tech, giving it a raw and scrappy feel that fits the era its set in.
