Wishmaster (1997)

A mysterious relic shows up at an auction house, and when its accidentally damaged, it unleashes an ancient, malevolent creature known as a Djinn. This isn't the kind of genie that grants harmless wishes. Every request someone makes gets twisted in the worst possible way, with deadly consequences. As the Djinn collects souls by manipulating people's desires, he inches closer to releasing his entire race into the world. The focus shifts to a woman who begins to suspect what's happening and gets caught in the middle of the chaos. She's forced to confront the Djinn, but the more she learns, the harder it is to stop him without falling into one of his traps. The story builds around how words can be used against you, and how tempting it can be to get what you want-until you see the cost.
