The Substance (2024)

An aging celebrity, Elisabeth Sparkle, is fired from her long-running fitness show due to her age. In her despair, she discovers a black-market drug known as "The Substance," which allows her to create a younger version of herself named Sue. They agree to share time in the real world, alternating every seven days. However, as Sues popularity grows, she becomes reluctant to relinquish her time, leading to a struggle for control between the two. This conflict results in both physical and psychological deterioration, culminating in a grotesque fusion of their identities. The film explores themes of identity, societal pressures regarding aging, and the pursuit of youth.
